The Lady Lion’s soccer team hosted Covenant College (Lookout Mtn., Tenn.) on September 30, and was defeated 0-1, after a long played game.

“Overall I was very pleased with our performance,” said Head Coach Mark Sauve. “I felt like the girls played with urgency.”

The women’s soccer team has not been able to defeat Covenant in regular season, only in the spring season.

“After having the night to reflect on the match I don’t really think there was any one player who stood out to me. I believe the result would have been much worse if we did not work as a team,” said Sauve.

Junior and keeper Kara Nissley had seven saves throughout the game, keeping the game as close as possible, but the team was not able to even the score. Covenant scored early in the first half, making the score 0-1.

“The match was very entertaining and was fun to be a part of. I would have liked to get a result, but there is much to be encouraged about the way we played,” said Sauve.

The Lady Lions are 2-5 overall, but since Covenant is not in our conference anymore, they remain 1-2 in conference and have more games to come.
