Bryan College Season Opener

The Bryan College men’s baseball team opened their season this past weekend with a four game series against Rio Grande University, in Ohio. Shortstop Andrew Urbistondo and third baseman Evan Speicher led the Lions offensively.

Urbistondo had 7 hits with 11 at bats. One of those hits was a solo home run. The defense was led by pitchers, Chad Burrows, L.J. Rowden, Francisco Collin and Chris Sauve. Rio Grande ended the Lions season last year in the NAIA National tournament, but this weekend was a different story for the opening of the 2016 season.

The Lions of Bryan College swept Rio Grande to start the season 4-0. The final scores were 7-3, 10-5, 4-3 and 2-1.

The Lions now prepare for their trip to Miami, Fla., this weekend as they take on St. Thomas University the No. 2 team in the country   and No. 15 Keiser University,Fla. Rankings according to NAIA coaches poll.
