Lions defeat Tigers 5-0

The Bryan College Lions beat the Hiwassee College (Madisonville, Tenn.) Tigers 5-0 Tuesday evening.

The Lions scored one run in the second and third innings and three runs in the sixth inning. The team is now 4-7 for the season.

Sophomore second baseman Cody Rhinehart led with one RBI, one hit, and one run. Junior center fielder Kevin Roberts had one RBI and one hit. Sophomore first baseman Justin Morhardt and sophomore left fielder Crandon Wallace each had one hit and one run. Junior shortstop Joey Underwood recorded two hits and one run. Junior pinch runner John Cain had one run. Senior third baseman Tyler Latham had one hit. Sophomore right fielder Preston King had one RBI.

Freshman Chad Burrows started on the mound for the Lions. During his seven innings he gave up three hits and struck out six batters. Junior Brannon Shortt struck out two batters and gave up one hit during the last two innings of the game.

The Lions will play again at home in a doubleheader against Point Park University (Pittsburgh, Pa.) on Friday. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
