Lindsey Wilson dominates baseball game

The Bryan Baseball team lost to No. 15 Lindsey Wilson College (Columbia, Ky.). 13-4 Tuesday evening.

Both the Lions and Blue Raiders scored runs in the second inning. From there, the Blue Raiders dominated the game, scoring two runs in the third, three runs in the fifth, six runs – including a grand slam – in the sixth, and one run in the ninth. The Lions managed to put up two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Sophomore designated hitter Hunter Tipton led with two RBIs and one hit. Senior shortstop Grant Zawadzki had two hits and two runs. Junior center fielder Kevin Roberts had two hits and one run. Sophomore left fielder Crandon Wallace recorded one hit and one run. Sophomore first baseman Justin Morhardt had one hit. Sophomore second baseman Cody Rhinehart finished with one RBI.

Freshman pitcher Chad Burrows started on the mound for the Lions and threw for four and one-third innings. Burrows allowed nine hits and six runs. Junior pitcher Brannon Shortt pitched the rest of the fifth and the beginning of the sixth. He gave up two hits and two runs. Senior pitcher Ike Meyers finished out the sixth inning where he allowed three hits and four runs. Freshman pitcher Ian Andrews finished pitching the final three innings for the Lions where he gave up two hits and one run, while striking out three batters.

The Lions, now 7-9, open conference play against Truett-McConnell College (Cleveland, Ga.) at home Friday night in a single nine-inning game. The game is scheduled for 6p.m.
