Letter to the Editor: Hear My Voice – Kristin Bryant

174146I am writing this because I want to voice my extreme disappointment at the loss of Dr. DeGeorge. I am an Elementary Education major, and play on the Women’s Soccer team here at Bryan. I very badly wanted to leave last year. I received my release from my coach and started to look at other schools, and found many that I loved. However, none of which had the same quality of an Education Department that Bryan did. I grew very close to Dr. DeGeorge and confided in him in many ways… and he always provided godly, sound advice.

He has changed my perspective of being a teacher, and has greatly impacted the role and desires I hope to have as a teacher. I want to change the lives of my students, just as Dr. DeGeorge has done for me and many others that share the same feelings as me. His love and passion for God overflows into his job as a teacher… and his passion for his students has created in me the same desire and love that I cant wait to share and give my students one day. I stayed at Bryan solely because of Dr. DeGeorge. He is the kind of educator that is hard to find in today’s schools.

I honestly believe that not only our Education Department but our school is undergoing an extreme loss by losing Dr. DeGeorge, and the fact that he was fired makes me greatly reconsider my decision to stay here at Bryan College. Dr. DeGeorge is a professor who not only implements the love of Christ through all of his teaching, but he clearly lives a life glorifying to our Savior, as well.

Sincerely,

Kristin Bryant
