FUEL club to bring greater fellowship to women

by Britney Weber, Triangle staff writer

Fuel, which stands for Fellowship, Unity, Encouargement and Love, is a group where girls can meet in small groups for the purpose of accountability and studying God’s Word.

Started by junior Alicia Schulze, FUEL was intended originally to be a hall-specific Bible study.

However, a shortage of leaders has forced Schulze to restructure.

According to senior Kathryn DeRhodes, who is one of the group leaders, FUEL’s purpose is to support existing Bible studies on campus and filling in where there are needs for new ones.

Another change for FUEL includes a transfer of management. Graduate Stacy Bradshaw will be taking over FUEL for Schulze, due to schedule changes.

“I want to provide an opportunity for cultivating spiritual growth and fellowship,” said Bradshaw.

DeRhodes said she wants groups for everyone that are not only welcoming and relevant, but convenient as well.

“As a business major, I have found that businesses compete with each other. Bible studies shouldn’t do that,” said DeRhodes, on comparing FUEL to the various other campus Bible studies.

Leaders are allowed to choose the curriculum or topic they want to study within their group. Girls can then sign up for groups according to topic preference.

Female students who are interested in leading a FUEL group can contact Bradshaw at oldfashionedheart@gmail.com or through Facebook.

“God has to be first in our lives,” said Bradshaw, “not school, not GPA’s, not anything. And that is really hard to do. Sometimes we just need to schedule in a time to meet with others and focus on God and putting Him first.”
