Last Thursday, the Bryan Enactus team awarded a check for $1,000 to the We Care Food Pantry.

According to Bryan’s website, the Enactus team, a non-profit organization that seeks to increase the quality of life for those in need by bringing about partnerships with both students and business leaders.

Enactus collected money donations last semester. The donations came by way of a costume party as well as selling hot chocolate and cookies at home soccer games.

“The Food Pantry is the absolute center and sanctuary for all people in Rhea County who struggle with covering their monthly groceries through their normal paycheck. It wasn’t a hard choice to pick them as the local partner who we would donate the money to,” said Senior Benedikt Müller, a member of Enactus.

Alton Steen, general manager of We Care Community Services, and Laura Olmstead, director of We Care’s food and housing program, received the check.

“The efforts of the Enactus team make a big impact on what they are doing in the community,” said Steen.

We Care Community Services offers various resources – food pantry, thrift center, counseling services, and housing programs – for those in need in Rhea County. More information can be found on their website at wecaredayton.org.
