Amanda Peckman, the third campus visit coordinator in the last three years, has left.Amanda

She and her husband, Joel Peckman, are moving to North Carolina for his new job teaching Math at Gaston Christian School. Joel has already gone on to take his position, but the three weeks of separation have not been terribly difficult, according to Amanda.

Amanda’s last day was Sept. 3, after giving her two-week notice.

The search for her replacement has been going on for three weeks. There are several candidates, but the admissions office is still accepting applications and scheduling interviews, according to Joshua Hood, director of admissions.  He is happy for the opportunity that opened up for Amanda but admits she will be hard to replace, and he wants to make sure that her replacement is an immediate complement to the team.

The people currently in the office are qualified to take up the slack, so there is no immediate need for a dedicated replacement. Admissions has time to find someone of appropriate caliber.

Although the workload has increased, Hood believes the Ambassadors and the admissions team can continue the work until her replacement is found.

Drew Morrison, the campus visit assistant, said that, with Amanda gone, he is working more closely with Admissions Office Manager Donna Belisle, and, while the first few days without her were difficult, he has been able to take it in stride.

“We’re all standing in the gap as a team,” Hood said.
