Anytime a senior student leaves an organization, school or team, they leave in hopes that their legacy will be remembered in the years after they have been gone. Bryan College women’s volleyball seniors Taylor Fink, Madison Akins and Ashley Ferris have left behind an impressive, historical legacy.

Bryan, for the first time in school history, finished the regular season undefeated in conference play. The Lady Lions’ Seniors have led the charge, and are seeking their third conference championship in a row.

Taylor Fink has spent her career as a setter for the Lions all four years at Bryan. She holds the school record for total assists with 4,750. She has played a major role in the Lions historical run over the last three years and seeks to lead the team towards its third conference championship in a row and even farther into Nationals after that.

Madison Akins is another four year senior who has been an important factor to the success of the volleyball team over the last few years. She has been a libero and a defensive specialist for the Lions and has recorded a total of 1,101 digs over her career at Bryan. Her leadership role in the back row of the court has been nearly irreplaceable for the Lions.

Ashley Ferris transferred from Carson-Newman and has been a powerful middle blocker for the Lions since she entered the program in 2013. She has racked up 386 kills during her two years at Bryan and has also served as a blocking asset to the front row.

Head Coach David Shumaker said, “These three seniors have been a key part of our historic run over the past three seasons.  We were very happy to send them off with an undefeated conference regular season.”

Bryan heads out to Kingsport, Tennessee this week in search for their third conference championship in a row. The Lions enter the tournament with the top ranked seed and will look to come out on top again. The tournament starts Wednesday, November 12 and ends on Friday, November 14.
