Baseball Regular Season Come to a Close

The Lions of Bryan College ends the 2015-2016 baseball season with an overall record of 36 wins and 16 loses. In conference play they finished with 18 wins and 9 loses which led them to second seed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament (AAC). This was the last regular season for 12 seniors, these 12 guys led the team to the success that they had this year.

The Bryan College baseball team goes by the slogan “Ohana” which means family, or adopted family. What these guys displayed all year was that exact type of family. From all over the United States and the world, these guys gel so well together and make the game of baseball fun.

The Lions beat their opponents with the overall score of 344 runs to 236 runs for the season. The following is the breakdown based on runs in the respective innings.

The Lions were led offensively as 7 players batted above .300.

Players that finished the season batting about .300 are as follows:

With these being the players who led the team offensively in batting average, the Lions had three guys with 9 HR (Homeruns) and 1 with 8 HR (Homeruns).

Justin Morhardt: 8

The pitching staff was led by a pride of Lions, Hunter Tipton, L.J. Rowden, Chad Burrows, Francisco Colin, Jose Hernandez, and Chris Sauve-gernhardt. Tipton led the team in ERA (Earned Run Average) with a 1.74 ERA, L.J. Rowden led the staff in wins with 9, and led the team in K’s (Strikeouts) with 58 total. With 25+ innings pitched, Hernandez led the staff with the least hits given up with 28 total hits against.

The Lions finished strong and look to take on Milligan College on Monday May 9 in Kingsport, Tenn. for the conference tournament. The Lions are the number two seeded team while Milligan is the 7th seed.
