On the Hill Podcast

DAYTON, TN.- Tim Shetter and Emilie Newport have created the first podcast for Bryan College. On the Hill debuted on January 22, 2022, and has new episodes every other Wednesday.

Shetter and Newport started this podcast as a way to keep alumni connected with what is happening on the hill and as a way to engage the Bryan community. The Bryan community they are referring to is staff, faculty, students and alumni.

Shetter and Newport decided for Dr. Douglas Mann, president of Bryan College, to be the first guest on their podcast. They decided on Dr. Mann so Bryan could hear his heart and rich story.

The idea for this podcast came from speaking with alumni about how they would want to keep up with what is happening on the hill. Newport claimed this is one of her long-term goals for her position on campus. “Alumni kept saying, Hey this would be really interesting, this is maybe how I would want to hear about what’s happening at Bryan.” host Emilie Newport said.

Newport and Shetter hope this allows for more communication in the Bryan community and to have a really wide audience. They are trying to reach everyone involved with Bryan by sprinkling in things for students, faculty, staff and alumni according to Newport.

They try to accomplish this by inviting fellow alumni, students and favorite professors to partake in this podcast. “A theme we have been running with is people’s stories as it relates to Bryan.” host Tim Shetter said.

Shetter and Newport believe inviting representatives from different parts of Bryan College will allow for more engagement. One thing they want people to know is they are not alone in whatever they are dealing with, said Newport.

Shetter and Newport plan to not only focus on current events but fun, engaging topics that will attract everyone connected to Bryan College. They want to help unite the Bryan community like never done before.
