Although he planned on retiring after this semester, Professor of Mathematics Dr. Bob Simpson will be returning to teach in the fall semester.
He had originally decided that, after 33 years of teaching at Bryan, it was time to step down. So he notified Vice President of Academics Dr. Kevin Clauson, adding that, if they could not find a suitable replacement, he would be willing to come back for one more year.
“There were a lot of things that I didn’t understand that led me to Bryan. When I finally got here, I understood that this is where the Lord wanted me to be. I want Him to make the decision when I leave,” Simpson said.
After reviewing several candidates and interviewing two, Clauson made an offer to one of them. However, the candidate turned down the offer.
Once the potential candidate refused, they decided to suspend the search for a replacement.
Simpson said that this coming year will definitely be his last year.
“When I retire, I’ll have plenty of time to spend with the 11 grandkids, and I plan on volunteering in the archives here at the college,” he said.
