When returning students exit the balmy summer air to
retreat into the cool of Bryan’s library and the familiar scent of old dusty tomes, they may come across an unfamiliar sight on the south side of the first floor: the new Academic Support Center (ASC).

The ASC has moved into a remodeled section of the first floor of the library, adding many new features to the center.

Among other amenities, Assistant Professor of English Bill Harle, the director of the ASC explained that four new computers–two PCs and two Macs–are now available for multimedia use.

Harle explained that the computers are loaded with current multimedia software and the computers are available for students to use whenever they are in library.

Other features that were added this summer include a conference room, ASC office, a distance learning computer center for ASC consultants, an additional computer center and large sofas and chairs.

Not only has part of the library transformed over the summer from rows of books and magazines to a fully functional and updated center to help students, but a technology support center has moved to the remodeled area of the ASC as well.

Even with all the remodeling over the summer, the ASC remains, as their website states “a model of student-centered collaborative,” and these changes are just continuing developments the ASC is making to better achieve their goals.
