We all know Cesar Perfecto Castro Bega as a staple in Bryan College at this point. From sprinting across the soccer field to making sure Bryan’s landscaping is in prime condition, Cesar, a native of Siguatepeque, Honduras, was not raised in a conventional manner.

He was raised in a children’s home, run by a Christian ministry. Through Rhonda Jackson, his greatest influence and lifelong role model, he was introduced to Bryan.

Rhonda, a Bryan College alumna, is the one who taught Cesar everything by fostering the virtues and characteristics necessary to lead a Christian lifestyle. Because of her bravery and faith in God, Rhonda is Cesar’s greatest inspiration.

He finds great admiration in her ability to travel to a foreign country without any prior knowledge and how she managed to navigate her way through and be a vessel to help others. Because of the outstanding example he established at an early age, these attributes inspire Caesar to be just as wonderful or even greater as a person.

Other significant influences on Cesar include his coaches at Bryan. Coach Davidson and Coach Felipe have both had a significant impact on his life by providing him with a home away from home. They have played a significant role in his development as a man by instilling in him the virtues of discipline, patience and consistency through the game of soccer. They also made it possible for Cesar’s numerous siblings to attend Bryan.

Cesar talked about how his freshman semester was the most challenging for him. In addition to adjusting to the bitter cold, relocating from abroad to the US sometimes resulted in cultural shock. He has since adapted well and is content with the family-like atmosphere at Bryan that his friends provide.

Cesar is a straightforward man who enjoys spending time alone, whether it be going for a calming jog or working out at the gym. Cesar has one more semester left before he graduates in December with a degree in exercise health science. By doing this, Cesar will continue to live out his Christian calling by serving as a strength or performance coach for young athletes.
