Coming from someone who has lived in Dayton their entire life, I know that Dayton can feel likebe a pretty boring town. However, there are some hidden gems that Dayton has to offer.
This one may surprise you, but did you know that you can use a Mexican restaurant as a study spot? You can order a drink and enjoy the free chips and salsa while you lock in on your homework.
Another one is Pocket Wilderness. In the spring and early fall, Pocket is the perfect place to hike and – if you are up from it – go for a swim. Pocket offers many different lengths of trails and even some waterfalls.
If you are up for a little adventure, Buc-ees’ location in Crossville is less than an hour away. It is the perfect late night getaway for you and your friends to spend quality time and grab some beaver nuggets.
An activity closer to campus is the Crystal Lanes Bowling Alley and Skating Rink. These are both cheap activities for you and your friends to be able to get off campus for a few hours and have some fun.
Want to relax? Go see a movie at one of the theaters in Cleveland or Chattanooga. Fun fact:, the AMC Theater in Cleveland has reclinable couch seating. So grab a popcorn and a soda and sit back and enjoy one of the new movies they have to offer.
The last idea I have to offer you are all the zoos and aquariums that are just a short drive away from campus. Chattanooga has both an aquarium and a zoo that are less than an hour away. There is also a zoo in Knoxville that is a bit bigger, with a few more animals.
So the next time you find yourself twiddling your thumbs searching for something to do, you can grab your friends and go on an adventure to one of the many places that this area has to offer!.
