DAYTON, Tenn. – Bryan College Women’s soccer defeated conference rival Union College (Ky.) 3-0 Tuesday evening.
The Lions started by getting five shots off against Union goalkeeper, Courtney Ford, within the first ten minutes of play.
Bryan’s first goal of the game came at the 32 minute mark from midfielder Claudia Eckstein (Jr.), with the assist coming from Ruth Rosales (Sr.).
Mya Patel (Fr.) scored 11 minutes later, giving Bryan a 2-0 lead going into half.
After play resumed, players of both teams referees handed out cards. Following a physical play from both sides, Carla Delgado (Sr.) of Union and Ruth Rosales (Sr.) of Bryan were warned by officials for roughing.
The Lions put the game out of reach by scoring with 38 minutes remaining. Johanna Rappe (Fr.) scored on an assist by Makena Giles (Fr.) and put the Lions up by a score of 3-0 – a score that would hold up until the game ended.
Union goalie Ford finished the night with 10 saves on 13 Bryan shots while Lions keeper Morgana Hardt da Silva made a save on the Bulldogs’ lone shot of the evening.
The Lions face off against conference opponent Bluefield College Sept. 30 at 4:30 p.m. Bryan’s record when facing Bluefield College is 10-0-1.
