Dayton, TN—The Bryan College men’s soccer team advances to the AAC semifinals after a 4-0 shutout against Point University on Saturday Nov. 5.

The Lions finished the regular season at 14-1-3 after a devastating loss to Montreat in OT two weeks ago.

“The loss to Montreat was tough for us because with one loss on the year we gave up the regular season title and the ability to host the tournament,” said Head Coach Drew Courtney.

“We have a lot of goals we want to reach and a lot of soccer left to play. We talk about concentration with our guys and have used the quote from the late Arnold Palmer. ” Concentration is the combination on confidence and hunger.” I think a game like Montreat can refocus our hunger and improve our concentration as we enter the post season.”

Sophomore Joe Goreham found the net after only 3:28 into the game to open up the scoring for the Lions. That goal was his third of the season. Rafael Metzingen, Brad Spooner, and Dino Jones notched the other three goals respectively.

Continuing his success this season in goal was Sophomore Alex Horton, who secured two saves against Point University. Horton has totaled 63 saves this season and ranks 6th in the AAC.

No. 2 seed Bryan looks defeat No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan Thursday, Nov. 10th at Union College in Barbourville, Ky.

“We need to outwork our opponent, execute our game plan, and enjoy playing together. If we are able to do those three things, I feel confident in our team’s ability to walk away from the match with the result we want,” said Coach Courtney.
