Bryan College Men’s Soccer Holds Steady in Tight Match

The Bryan College Lions defeated the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies 1-0. Both teams played well, but Bryan’s early score was enough to squeeze past the Grizzlies.

With 3:54 into the match, Michael Torner scored a lone goal off of a corner kick. The corner kick came from Brad Spooner, and it gave Torner the opportunity to take advantage of miscommunication between Gwinnett players by heading the ball into the back of the net. Krishna Clarke, a sophomore for the Grizzlies, came close to evening the score when his 18 foot shot was blocked by Bryan’s goalkeeper Alex Horton.

Torner’s goal was the difference in the match, as the Lion’s held their defense steady against the Grizzlies.

Defense dominated the match, as neither the Lions nor the Grizzlies could find the back of the net for the remaining time. Horton notched 4 saves on the match, as the Grizzlies shot 9 times. Georgia Gwinnett now falls to 4 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie. Bryan’s win puts them at 7 wins, 4 losses and 2 ties on the season. The Lion’s travel to Union College in Kentucky on October 17 at 7 pm.
