Written by: Tanner White

On Tuesday, September 18, the Bryan Lady Lions volleyball team played against the Milligan Buffaloes. The match went to five sets. Bryan won the first set 25-12, but lost the second and third sets 12-25 and 15-25. In the fourth set, Bryan battled back and won 25-21.

Summers Gymnasium was full and the student section roared for their team. The crowd energized the Lions, and used that to their advantage.

The fifth set started off rough for the Lions due to errors. The Buffaloes started to take control and took a 10-4 lead–minutes into the last set. A controversial call was overturned on a Bryan player for touching the net, and the Lions used that as a catalyst. Milligan had a couple of errors, which let Bryan back into the game, cutting the lead to 10-8. Milligan then took off, and won the last set 15-9.

Sophomore Rheagan Kean had a career-best with 34 digs for Bryan. Alyssa Rupert led the Buffaloes with 31 digs. Bryan also had a team high of 5 blocks, while Milligan had none. The Lions next matchup is a three game series over the weekend in Columbia, S.C. against Allen University, Columbia College and Piedmont International University.
