The Men’s Ministry Council extended curfew for all Bryan men Thursday for a night of conversation, studying and drinks at Bimbo’s restaurant.

An estimated 30-35 men showed up to hang out throughout the evening, said senior Andrew Davis, the vice president of men’s ministry on campus. It was a chance for them to study in a different and enjoyable environment rather than on campus. The extended curfew night was a great way to get multiple social groups together at an off-campus event, according to sophomore Minister to Men Luke Lillard.

Athletes, SGA members, the student band Newsome Station and other student groups attended Thursday’s event.

The atmosphere was more relaxed than most Bryan events. Students sat around Bimbo’s reading their textbooks and having conversations with one another.

The idea for an extended curfew originated in last year’s Ministry Council, said Davis, but the event was not arranged until this semester.

It was a simple event to plan because Bimbo’s was open to the idea of Bryan students coming for the evening, and the only arrangements necessary on campus involved communication with the resident directors, said Davis.

The extended-curfew night may become a regular event, said Lillard. “I hope it will, I think it would be a very good thing.”
