The deadline to submit materials for the 44th annual Literary and Visual Arts Competition arrives Monday at 5p.m.

Participation is welcomed from full time students from this academic year.

This is a chance for Bryan students to turn in writing or visual art to be judged and compared to other students, said Professor of English Whit Jones.

In addition to small monetary awards, visual art winners may have their works displayed in the library and literary art winners will be invited to share their writing at the English Awards Night at the end of the semester, according to Jones.

Visual art categories include pen and ink, charcoal, oil, watercolor, tempera, acrylic, pastel, photography, and original print. In order to submit entries, participants must pick up cover sheets from a bin right outside the English Department on Laterimer 3rd.

Literary art categories are poetry, short stories, creative non-fiction, formal essays, drama, news writing, feature articles, and editorial/opinion pieces. Participants must create their own cover sheets.

Specifics for categories and additional requirements can be found in a Bryan News e-mail titled “Bryan Literary-Visual Arts Contest Announcement” sent in late February.
