Lady Lions triumph

The junior varsity volleyball team played its home season opener Sept. 11 with a two-set loss to Maryville College. The Lady Lions played a hard-fought match, barely falling short to the Lady Scots in each game. The set scores were 29-31 and 25-27. After this game the ladies are now 1-1.

Kaitlynn McAdams recorded eight kills, and Payton Walker led the team with eight digs, according to the Bryan College Volleyball Facebook page.

The team’s next home game is Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. against Hiwassee College.

The varsity ladies opened their first home match with a 3-1 win over NCAA Division II Shorter University. Bryan opened the first game with a big run, leading the first set 7-0. The Lady Lions went on to win that game 25-17. Shorter made a comeback and won the second set, 15-25. Bryan turned around and won the next two sets, both 25-21. Following this game the Lady Lions are 9-1 for the season.

Kara Stamper had 12 kills, Taylor Fink made 36 assists and Corrie Walker recorded 25 digs, according to the Volleyball Facebook page.

The Lady Lions play their first conference home game against Columbia College (South Carolina) will play again Saturday, Sept. 14, against St. Andrews University and Emmanuel College at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
