Harvest Bash exceeds expectations

Starting at 9 p.m. on Monday night, swarms of Bryan College students staged a mass exodus from Summers Gymnasium and quickly headed straight for Robinson Women’s Dorm. After the hard loss to Lee College (Cleveland,Tenn.) on our home court, the student body still had something to celebrate: Harvest Bash 2010.

Upon arrival at Robinson, students were immediately greeted by miniature pumpkins atop bales of hay that constructed a festive lane leading up to the front door of the dorm. Inside was waiting a host of decorations, food and activities. Read full story »

Students to stop trafficking through conference

In just a few weeks, a group at Bryan College will be hosting a conference that will stand out among those the campus has seen in the past.

SSTOP (Students Stopping the Trafficking of Persons) will be hosting a conference focusing on injustices throughout the world.

It will begin Nov. 3 with a speaker devoted to the awareness of the persecution of the church and progress to the weekend when the focus will be mainly on human trafficking.

In the past, SSTOP played host to different conferences with national speakers, but the conference that will take place November 3-7 “will have international speakers, and address in depth issues such as sex trafficking, the persecuted church, and slavery,” said sophomore Jessalyn Huffman, SSTOP administrative assistant.

“We are raising awareness–though it’s a vague term. A lot of people don’t understand the reality of the situation,” said sophomore Summer Weiss, SSTOP vice president. Read full story »
