The Bryan College softball hosted Georgia Gwinnett College (Lawrenceville, Ga.) in a doubleheader Saturday. The Lions lost game one 7-3 and game two 7-4 to drop below .500 on the season to a 14-15 record.

The Grizzlies started the day with an excellent batting display and managed to score four runs in the first inning. They then added two more runs in their second at-bat to open up a dominating lead over Bryan. The Lady Lions began to battle back and managed to score two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to take the score to 6-3. Any hope of an unlikely comeback was squashed in the seventh inning with the Cubs adding another run to win the match 7-3.

Freshman Becca Zimmerman led the Lions offense ending the game with two hits and one RBI. Senior Katie Vaughn finished with one RBI, one hit and one run. Sophmore Mariam Wood also scored a run.

Game two started in the same fashion with the Grizzlies opening up a commanding four-run lead in the top half of the third inning. Bryan managed to cross the plate for the first time in the third to take the score to 5-1.  Both teams managed to add a run in the fourth inning and Bryan concluded the scoring with two runs in the sixth  but fell short  7-4.

Junior Heidi Daniel led the Lions offense with two runs batted in and one run scored. Senior Heather Daniel recorded one RBI and one hit.

The Lady Lions play swept a doubleheader Wednesday at Union University (Jackson, Tenn.), 6-3, 5-3, to push their season record to 16-15.
