Lions lose in double overtime to third-ranked Lindsey Wilson

The Bryan College Lions lost to the Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) Blue Raiders in double overtime Saturday night.

The Lions were the first to score when Daniel Branley headed the ball to Zach McCown, who kicked it to the back of the net during the 22nd minute of the game. Lindsey Wilson came back from the break and tied the game in the 55th minute.

The Blue Raiders went on to take the lead in the 63rd minute. The Lions showed they were not going to give up when Daniel Branley found the back of the net off a pass from Zach McCown in the 89th minute.

Neither team scored in the first overtime, causing the game to go into double overtime. Lindsey Wilson scored in the 105th minute to win the game 3-2.

The Lions recorded nine shots with five of them on goal, while Lindsey Wilson tallied 24 shots,10 on frame.

The Blue Raiders are ranked third nationally in the most recent NAIA Coaches’ Poll, while Bryan was able to hang on to the #23 spot.

Despite the loss, Head Coach Joey Johnson said, ā€œIā€™m proud of the guys.They played well.ā€

The Lions, now in postseason, will play again at home on Nov. 9. The time and opponent are still to be determined.
