Lions defeat Southern Polytechnic in overtime

The Bryan College Lions beat the Southern Polytechnic State University (Marietta, Ga.) Hornets 84-80 in overtime at home Saturday night in the final game of the Bryan College Classic.

The Lions went into the break trailing 38-31. Bryan was able to rally their team to come back with 41 points in the second half but the Hornets were right with the Lions and scored 34 points to tie the game at 72 at the end of regulation. The Lions went on a 12-8 run in overtime to win the game 84-80.

Bryan shot 36.2 percent from the floor while the Hornets shot 46.3 percent. The Lions managed to hit 33.3 percent of their 3-point shots and 79.4 percent of their free throws.

Sophomore forward Brandon Cole led the Lions with 27 points and 17 rebounds. Sophomore guard Robert Troino led with four assists he also had 16 points and six rebounds.

The Lions play again on Dec. 13 at Hiwassee College (Madisonville, Tenn.).
