DAYTON, Tenn.– The Bryan College Lions took on the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs Thursday night at home for their AAC home opener. The Bulldogs won 77-68.

Deandra Luna led the Lions in scoring by tallying 21 points on the night with three rebounds, two steals and two assists. Karli Combs had a productive night for the lions, scoring 13 point, acquiring five rebounds and three steals.

On the other side of the court, Hunter Simpson led the bulldogs with 20 points, 9 rebounds and six assists. Not far behind was Kenzie Conn with 16 points and two rebounds.

Shooting was below average for the Lions in their home opener. They shot 34 percent from the floor (23-67) and 20 percent from 3-point range (5-24). Free throws were not an issue for the lions, however, as they were able to make 17 of 21 or 81 percent of their shots from behind the line. The Bulldogs were able to shoot 52 percent (25-48) in the paint, despite shooting just 30.8 percent (4-13) from outside the paint.

Despite several double digit leads by the Bulldogs, including one late in the second half that reached as high a 19, the Lions were able to keep in close until several made foul shots sealed the win for Tennessee Wesleyan.

With Thursday’s loss, the Lions fell to 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in the AAC. The Bulldogs improved to 3-4 and 2-0 in conference play. The lions are back at home Saturday 2:00 p.m. against Columbia College.
