The Bryan Lions lost to conference rival Reinhardt University (Waleska, Ga.) 7-4 in 10 innings Friday evening. The Lions are now 22-14 overall and 8-5 in AAC play.
The Eagles started off the scoring by earning three runs in the second inning. The Lions managed to put one on the board in the bottom of the inning. The Eagles added another in the third to lead 4-1. Bryan would come back to add three runs in the bottom of the sixth – including homeruns by junior center fielder Kevin Roberts and senior shortstop Grant Zawadzki – to tie the game. At the end of nine innings the score was tied 4-4 to send the game into inning 10. Reinhardt put up three runs to win 7-4.
Roberts recorded one RBI, one hit and one run. Sophomore designated hitter Justin Morhardt had one hit and one run. Zawadzki finished with two hits, two runs and two RBI. The Lions’ other RBI was recorded by junior first baseman Kelvin McMiller who also had one hit.
Sophomore pitcher L.J. Rowden started on the mound for the Lions and pitched seven and two-third innings. During his time on the mound, Rowden allowed 12 hits, four runs and four earned. He also struck out six batters. Junior pitcher John Cain pitched the final two and one-third innings and received the loss. Cain allowed four hits, two runs and three earned.
