Dayton, TN—The Bryan College men’s golf team got off to a slow start in their first event, the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational at Sea Island, GA.

After coming back a little discouraged, the team sat down as a group to discuss the things needed to get the team to fire on all cylinders for the rest of the year.

Assistant coach Jake Goins alluded to a few keys that the team needed to focus on for the rest of the season. “Our guys have the ability to compete for a top spot in our conference. For that to happen, we have to make them believe that they can. Once we get into that mindset, then I believe that they will play up to that potential.”

The Lions have not had the best of weather to prepare for the upcoming season. “The weather has been better since we returned from our first tournament,” said Goins. “This has given us the chance to practice and sharpen all aspects of our game as we begin conference play in the next few weeks.”

The team will begin conference play next week at the AAC Spring Championship at Eagles Brook Country Club in Locus Grove, GA.

The vibe coming from the team as they begin conference play is a very excited and anxious to show that they can compete with the top teams in the conference.

“I’m looking forward to the next few tournaments as we begin conference play,” noted team captain Nick Scully. “We have had a lot of quality practice, refining our short game and creating consistency. I’m excited to see how our team will finish this spring season.”

The Lions look to finish the season with two good finishes at the AAC Spring Championship and at the NAIA National Qualifier. Nick Scully is looking to secure a spot on the All-Tournament Team in route to leading his team to a conference title.
