Dr. Kevin Clauson, interim vice president of academics and director of the Center for Law and Public Policy, is designing a new research center.
This new center will share many of the same values as the Center of Law and Public Policy. It will be called the Center for Faith, Freedom, and Constitution.
The center’s mission will be to share “the vision and value of limited constitutional government, liberty and free enterprise economics, all firmly founded on a Christian Worldview,” Clauson said.
He said that, while this center may seem conservative, “it is not an appendage for a political party.” It is about ideas and philosophy and offers suggestions about how to put these ideas in practice, he added.
According to Clauson, the center will be under the jurisdiction of the president, the cabinet and the board of trustees. He said he anticipates a board of advisors for the new center. The board of advisors will not make policies but will lend advice.
While board members have yet to be hired, Clauson said a couple of “well-known individuals” will be approached to be part of the board.
Clauson anticipates the center start on a very small budget, with most funds coming from donors. He said he also envisions small campus events as another way of raising funds.
