The first Commoner Forum of the year will take place this Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. on the second floor of the library.

The subject of the forum will be racial diversity on Bryan’s campus, seeking to spark conversation on the topic, specifically the consequences of a lack of diversity or the benefits of diversity on a Christ-centered college campus.

Dean of Student Life Bruce Morgan is quoted on the College’s website saying that the goal of the forum is to “…start a conversation about this with the end result being a move toward more cultural diversity on campus.”

Morgan said in that same release that he sees a lack of cultural diversity as a problem “on most Christian campuses and in most Christian organizations.”

The forum will be moderated by Student Body President Vincent Smith and feature a six-person panel. Panel members include professors Dr. Salvatore Musumeci, Mr. Michael Palmer, Dr. David Morgan and Assistant Director of Faith and Missions Danielle Rebman and Assistant Director of Worldview Formation Bonnie-Marie Yager. The student body will be represented on the panel by sophomore Taylor Hutcherson.

Members of the panel will share their views on diversity from a biblical standpoint, said the release on Bryan’s website. Yager said in the release that she wishes to see Bryan students consider diversity issues from a “kingdom-based” disposition, not just a politically-correct one.
