The president’s State of the Union Address was rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27, when fans of the ABC series “Lost” voiced concern that its original date would conflict with the Feb. 2 final season premiere.

Conflict arose when the White House began considering Feb. 2 as a date for President Barrack Obama’s first State of the Union address. However, ABC had advertised “Lost’s” season premiere months before the address was scheduled.

“Lost” fans created Facebook and Twitter groups such as “#NoStateofUnionFeb2” to convince the White House to choose a date other than Feb. 2.

Traditionally, the State of the Union Address occurs in late January, so ABC did not foresee the scheduling issue.

On Jan. 8, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs announced that he did not “foresee a scenario in which millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in ‘Lost’ are preempted by the president.”
